ABOUT ME
I am a designer - freelancer – autodidact, as well as a composer and an author of multimedia projects. Alongside private activity, starting from 2007 I am the manager and designer of the creative agency Goldbrands.
Currently I have 7 years experience as a designer in various companies: Big Ant (graphic designer), Baltic Digital Solutions (web designer), Osy.lv (photo designer, retoucher). I’ve also worked as a project designer for: Albert, Krustpunkts, E-tilts, Digibrand and others.
Before that, I’ve graduated from Latvian Academy of Music, Department of Composition. I compose different styles of music, including electronic. My classical music compositions are commercially available and can be found here.
In addition to music and design, I organize multimedia projects: in the end of 2007 I organized a large-scale opening presentation for Goldbrands titled “This Is Inspiration” in "Peldošā darbnīca" on Andrejsala. At the same time I made an exhibition titled “This Is Inspiration” of 12 of my design images – postcards at the Music Academy Student Club.
In 2005, I organized a creative social circle Ars Liber. This gathered young artists, photographers, poets in weekly thematic meetings and various events: Ars Liber Gathering 3-day camp (near Dzirnezers), A Day In The Past - Carousel (in Salaspils).
In multimedia project The Sleeping Ones (Aizmigušie) (2003), I organized the production of 6 short movies, by gaining sponsorship from Culture Capital Fund. By involving writers, composers, musicians, audio-visual artists - on average, about 150 creative young people, 6 movies were created about global issues (drug abuse, ecology, war, etc.) During the closing event, people could lie on the floor and watch the movies projected on the ceiling in Jaunais Rigas theater. The movies were later shown in Kinogalerija movie theater, Valmiera Multiklubs, and in some churches. I’ve written the text and music for one of the movies – The City (Pilsēta).
Before studying at the Academy of Music, I graduated from Rezekne Music College as a piano player. During my time at the college I led an instrumental ensemble "4 Debesspuses", for which I also composed music in the spirit of Irish and Latvian folklore.
I've won several design competitions, as well as awards and honorary mentions for musical and literary works.
SKILLS
Computer programs: Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Bridge, Flash, Corel Draw, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Sibelius, CuBase.
I design logo, corporate identity (forms, stamps, business cards, folders), all kinds of printed design, as well as website design. I also practice digital painting.
I have an ability to feel and guess clients' ideas and visions. In my opinion, my best skill is to combine. Anything - pieces of music, texts, design elements, layers, textures, colors, materials, etc. In composition, I always follow a unified theme, style or principle. Mostly I hold to the principle "less is more".
I’m good at idea generation, at creating concepts and PR campaigns, event organizing.
Upon request or for fun I play piano, draw, write poetry, libretto and music. I play several musical instruments.
I also photograph (Nikon D80, Tamron 18-50) and do digital photo processing and manipulation.
INTERESTS
I feel sure that a good idea is worth a million, that idea is a gift, and its execution a hard work. Everything can be achieved by believing from all the heart. The path to abundance is shorter when one realizes the aims clearly. Then the wide range of offers and menus won’t lure away from executing the plan! Even better to be self-sufficient, it makes you really happy.
My interests coincide with the recent trends in the world – to find myself, to understand the world. I’m interested in learning anger control, in homeopathy, harmony, laying down one’s ego, transurfing, yoga, jazz, global warming, meditation, science, self-revelation, fun increase, creation.
It is important for me to constantly improve myself, to find my own distinctiveness, rather than try to resemble. The composer Arvo Pert has said: Music should come as a flow, as a unique color, allow it to come as and when it wishes. This is divine process. I think that this applies to all the arts and to the uniqueness of each person.
I create in order to express myself. I am happy that my hobby is my job. When I have an inspiration, I can do without sleeping, eating and going out for the whole daynight.
I consider to be masterpieces: the movie Into The Wild, animation movie Tottoro, books by Osho – Creativity and Freedom, Russian Soviet-era animation movies, Bach music, the title track from the movie Ratatouille as well as the movie itself, Lindowade photo manipulation, Emohoc design, Chaplin movies, and Norah Jones music.
I get inspired by reading books, watching works by creative people and being with nature during all seasons. I love the feeling of a job well done, love the process of creation, and love communication with people. I also like to ski, swim, travel and to play with my little daughter Alice. :)
